Whether you’ve booked this shoot for yourself or someone special, it’s essential to have a clear idea of what to expect and feel comfortable in your own skin. Just follow this guide, and let’s dive right in!
Why Boudoir Sessions Rule
A boudoir photoshoot is not just about capturing stunning, intimate images—it’s an experience that brings a world of benefits. First and foremost, it’s a powerful way to boost your self-confidence and embrace your unique beauty. The whole process encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and see yourself in a new light, helping you break free from negative self-talk and embrace your body just as it is. Boudoir shoots also allow you to connect with your sensual side in a fun, playful way, helping you rediscover your inner confidence and strength.
It’s a chance to experiment with different looks, outfits, and moods that reflect who you are, all while being pampered with professional hair, makeup, and styling. The resulting images are more than just photos—they’re a celebration of your authenticity and individuality. Whether you decide to gift these empowering images to a special someone or keep them as a personal memento, the experience is guaranteed to leave you feeling more radiant and self-assured. Plus, it’s just a lot of fun! Who doesn’t want to feel like a model for a day and leave with a newfound appreciation for how amazing they truly are?
Deciding Outfits and Lingerie
My number one tip for a successful boudoir photoshoot is to prioritize choosing lingerie that not only makes you feel incredible but also looks fantastic in photos. Experiment with different styles such as two-piece sets, teddies, bodysuits, and negligees to find what suits you best. If you need guidance or a second opinion, don’t hesitate to reach out and share some photos for feedback. Remember, confidence is key!
While neutral tones such as black, white, and tan are always flattering, feel free to mix up the colour a bit to express your personal style and creativity. Incorporating subtle variations or even complementary shades can enhance your overall look.
I just recommend staying away from anything too bright or neon, as they can be distracting and overpowering in photographs. Jewel tones, with their rich and vibrant shades, and earth tones, which evoke a sense of natural beauty, are absolutely stunning when photographed, adding depth and warmth to your images. Consider pairing these tones with softer neutrals to create a balanced aesthetic that draws attention without overwhelming the eye.
At the end of the day, go with what makes you feel the most confident, comfortable, and of course, sexy!

Incorporating Props
Incorporating props into a boudoir photoshoot can add a personalized and creative touch to the session, enhancing the overall mood and style. Props like satin sheets, vintage lingerie, or a cozy robe can create a sense of intimacy and elegance, while playful elements like feather boas, pearls, or a delicate veil can add a flirtatious or whimsical vibe. For a more unique look, using items like a mirrored tray, a flower bouquet, or a favorite book can highlight the subject’s personality and interests.
Thoughtfully chosen props can help tell a story, evoke specific emotions, or emphasize the subject’s confidence and beauty, making the photos feel more dynamic and meaningful. The key is to keep the props subtle yet impactful, ensuring they complement the subject without overwhelming the natural beauty of the boudoir photoshoot.
Hair and Makeup
Honestly, this one is up to you! Most women I work with tend to enjoy letting their hair down, as it gives a sense of freedom and spontaneity while the photos are being taken. There’s something about flowing locks that exudes confidence and femininity, creating stunning visuals that resonate with the viewer.
That being said, a loose messy bun or hair clipped up is super sexy and can beautifully showcase your neck, back, and shoulders, adding an elegant touch to the overall look. It can also provide a different vibe and aesthetic, giving us versatile options throughout the shoot. We can always start with your hair down, capturing those beautiful, carefree moments, and then transition to clipping it up for some striking photos later on, ensuring a variety of styles that reflect your personality and mood.
Your make-up should reflect you and your unique personality. Are you a person who absolutely loves to go full glam, embracing bold colors and intricate designs? Go full glam and don’t hold back on the shimmer and flair! On the other hand, if you find that you’re more comfortable with a natural vibe that showcases your beautiful skin and features, then go for that instead. You could keep it simple with just a hint of color on your cheeks and a swipe of mascara to enhance your lashes.
Alternatively, if you’d like to take a break from makeup altogether, that’s perfectly fine too. Embracing your natural beauty during your boudoir photoshoot can be just as empowering. Ultimately, the choice is yours—makeup should be an expression of who you are and what makes you feel most confident.
Please avoid using tanning lotion or spray in the three days leading up to your boudoir photoshoot. These products tend to stain furniture, and can make your skin look orange if you use them too soon before the photoshoot.

Leading Up To Your Boudoir Photoshoot…
Here are some quick tips to get you ready for your boudoir session:
–This one is important! Do not wear restrictive clothing (including a bra) in the hours before your boudoir photoshoot. They will leave marks on your skin that can be difficult to edit out of the photos. If you would like to do some classy topless or artsy nudes, we will start with those so that your bra doesn’t leave marks. Just give me a heads up before we get going!
-Try using gel or spray on deodorant to avoid the white film that a normal deodorant stick can
leave.
-I highly recommend doing some stretches before and after any boudoir photoshoot – you will be
arching your back and pushing your booty out more than you think!
-Stay nice and hydrated the day before/day of the photoshoot and try to get a good night’s sleep
the night before! We want you looking and feeling your best.
-MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE! Want your skin to look gorgeous and glowing in your
images? LOTION UP, BABY!! I also provide baby oil at my sessions for this reason – it makes
your skin look glowy and gorgeous and a little bit goes a long way!
-Build a music playlist to help get you in the mood. If you’re not sure what you’d like to listen to,
let me know and I will bring my own playlist along! I promise, music will help you loosen up way
more than you realize.
And there you go! Now you’ve got the information to get ready for your boudoir shoot. Of course, if you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to me!
